The Terms of Use for these Services (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of our Website. The Terms are a legally binding agreement between you and the Center. If these Terms are not acceptable to you, you must not access or use our Website or any of our Services. The Terms exist to preserve the integrity of our academic mission, protect your rights as a user, and clarify responsibilities we both assume as we interact with each other online.
Chr Faculty of Law Legal Center for Constitutionalism and Human Rights
The Center is a leading academic and legal research center devoted to advancing, protecting, and studying human rights and U.S. constitutional law in the United States. The Center is a part of Charles University’s Faculty of Law and is known for its pioneering research, high-quality legal scholarship, and effective public outreach. The Center’s goal is to cultivate a deep understanding of U.S. constitutional law principles and human rights through cutting-edge teaching, real-world legal practice, and effective advocacy promoting justice and equality before the law. Our Services are for lawyers, law students, legal practitioners, scholars, researchers, and advocates interested in U.S. constitutionalism and human rights.
Acknowledgement of Terms
By using our website and Services, you represent that you are of legal age to enter into these Terms, and that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by the terms and conditions set out in these Terms. If you use our Services on behalf of an entity, you further represent that you have the authority to bind that entity to these Terms. The Center may change, modify, or amend these Terms at any time, without notice. Any changes become effective upon the posting of updates on our website. Services
Our Services include but are not limited to:
- Legal courses and education in U.S. human rights law, constitutional law, and related fields
- Courses in specialized programs relating to international law, gender & sexuality law, and comparative studies of constitutional law with a U.S. legal perspective
- Research and participation in legal outreach programs
- Events, lectures, and hands-on legal experience
Certain Services are only made available subject to requirements for eligibility, enrollment procedures, or additional terms and conditions as may be communicated to you in each instance.
Age and Registration
In order to access certain Services or attend certain programs you may be required to register, submit accurate information, and keep your account credentials secure. You agree to:
- Provide true, current, and complete registration information
- Maintain and timely update this information as needed
- Maintain the security of your username, password or other log-in credentials
You are fully responsible for all activities that occur under your account. The Center may suspend or terminate your account for violations of these Terms or any applicable policies.
User Behaviour and Conduct
You agree to access and use the Center’s website and Services solely for legal, bona fide purposes in accordance with these Terms and all applicable laws, rules, and regulations. You may not:

- Use the name, mark or other information associated with the Center in any way that will suggest approval or affiliation without written consent
When appropriate and necessary, we will suspend access and/or terminate accounts.
Intellectual Property
Content made available through use of the Center’s website or through the Services (collectively referred to as the “Content”), including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, images, course material, audio or video material, and software, is the proprietary property of the Center or its licensors, each of which retain all rights in and to such Content under U.S. and foreign copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property or legal rights and laws. By accessing or using the Services, a limited, non-exclusive, and non-transferable right is granted to access and use the Services for your personal non-commercial educational use. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works of, publicly display, or exploit Content without written permission from the Center.
User Content
Features of our Services may permit users to submit, upload, post or otherwise transmit content, including but not limited to comments, essays, research, questions, and feedback (“User Content”). Intellectual Integrity and Code of Conduct
The Center upholds academic integrity and expects all Users of its network, including students, faculty, and other program participants, to maintain the highest standards of honesty, respect, and ethical behavior. The Center’s policy is that acts of plagiarism, cheating, misrepresentation, or any other forms of academic dishonesty are prohibited. Violations will be dealt with accordingly and may result in removal of access and privileges for educational programs, Services, and facilities. The Center may investigate suspected violations and, when appropriate, may impose sanctions.
Warranties Disclaimer
The Center is providing the site and the Services on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without any warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. The Center disclaims all implied warranties, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and accuracy with regard to the content contained on the site. Fees, Enrollment, Withdrawals and Refunds
Certain Services such as academic courses, programs, events, and certifications may have associated tuition, fees, or other charges. Payment terms, enrollment processes, and refund policies for payments are described in advance of your start of participation in a paid Service. The Center reserves the right to change fees or payment terms at its discretion. Your enrollment in a paid Service signifies your acceptance of all of the associated policies and completion of payment as described.
Termination, Account Suspension and Bar
The Center may, in its sole discretion, suspend, limit, or terminate your access to the website and/or Services at any time and for any reason, including without limitation any violation of these Terms, academic dishonesty, illegal activities, or security concerns. Effective upon termination or expiration of these Terms, all licenses and rights granted by The Center to you hereunder will terminate; provided that any provision of these Terms that by its nature is intended to survive termination or expiration shall survive.
Copyright & DMCA
Preserving the intellectual property of others is taken seriously, and the same consideration is expected of users of the Center website. If you believe that your copyrighted work has been reproduced or posted on the Center website in a manner that constitutes copyright infringement, please immediately provide our designated agent a written notice containing the information required by the DMCA. Upon receipt of a proper notice, the Center will act swiftly to investigate and to remove or disable access to material claimed to be infringing. Repeated violators will have their access to centergeo.org terminated.
Governing Law / Jurisdiction
These Terms and your use of the Services are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York and applicable United States federal law, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the state and federal courts in New York, New York. You consent to the jurisdiction and venue of these courts by using the Services.
Dispute Resolution
In the event any dispute, claim, or controversy arises out of or relates to these Terms or the Services provided herein, or to your relationship with the Center, you agree that the first step is to attempt resolution of any dispute through informal means by contacting us at [email protected]. If any claim is not resolved through the informal process, you agree to attempt to resolve it through participation in good faith mediation or, failing that, participatory binding arbitration held in New York, New York as the exclusive form of dispute resolution unless otherwise required by law.

Incoming Activities, Lectures, Outreach Events
The Center hosts events, presentations, lectures, workshops, conferences, outreach, and other activities (“Center Activities”) designed to foster awareness and engagement with U.S. constitutional and human rights law. Center Activities may be subject to certain Terms and Conditions, eligibility requirements, codes of conduct, or registration. The Center reserves the right to modify, cancel, or reschedule Center Activities as it deems necessary. By registering for or participating in any Center Activities, you agree to abide by any applicable policies, codes, or instructions.
Alumni, Testimonials, Community
Alumni and other community members who submit testimonials, endorsements, or other comments regarding the Center do so based on their individual opinions and experiences. Such comments do not guarantee future results. By submitting testimonials or comments that feature in engagement opportunities, community members grant the Center permission to use such information for promotional, educational, philanthropic, or informational purposes, subject to our Privacy Policy.
No Waiver / Severability
The Center’s failure to enforce any of these Terms shall not be a waiver of its right to do so, or any other right. If and to the extent any provision of these Terms are deemed invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable by a court or arbiter, the rest of this Agreement shall nevertheless remain effective and enforceable.
Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any additional terms that apply to a particular Service, constitute the entire agreement between you and the Center for your use of the website and Services.
